Wolsingham boasts of over 150 walks which have all been waymarked by
an enthusiastic group of walkers Wolsingham Wayfarers. The Wayfarers
welcome anyone interested in walking to join them on their regular walks
all of which are well advertised .The interested rambler can experience
real tranquility by discovering the Elephant Trees, searching for the
Ant Hills or meandering past the Sills and over Jack Walker Bridge. One
of the most popular walks is a circular tour round Tunstall Reservoir
about 2 miles to the north of the town . The reservoir which was first
brought into use in 1880 is stocked with Rainbow Trout.
Wolsingham Agricultural Society holds its annual show on the first
weekend in September. It is said to be the oldest show in the country
and this year recorded a record attendance of 35,000 on its first day.

The Town has a very active Parish Council which is proud of its
centrally situated Recreation Field containing one of the best
children’s play areas in the district in addition to a recently
constructed bowling green. pavilion and football pitch.
To celebrate the Millennium the community prepared a record of Wolsingham
in the form of a book……..JUST US 2000 . It contains photographs
and details of every household in the Parish. On completion the book was lodged in the
County archives with only one additional copy, which is on display in the Town Hall, adjacent to the stained glass window that
has been specially commissioned.
The Parish of Wolsingham
also includes the small village of Thornley.
